When I make these I add hot sausage to the meatball mixture for an extra spice everyone loves them, they do not last very long
Add a bit of brown sugar
These are super yummy but we've found that adding a bit of brown sugar to the sauce takes a away a bit of the sour taste.. super yummy!
Crowd Pleaser - Adults and Kids!!
My son always asks for this whenever there is a group function at his Boy Scouts dinners/events! He and his friends love these and no matter how much I make, they are always gone! For pot luck, people are always asking me for the recipe and they can't believe it when I tell them how easy it is! Occasionally, I make it with fresh meatballs, which I bake first and then simmer in the sauce. I have to be boldly honest, the frozen beef meatballs (not the one with pork), from Armor is a great choice, but I really love the italian beef meatballs (also frozen) from Costco! It's a huge bag, but for the holidays, they go quickly!
I make these for football parties I attend and they always run out no matter how much I make.
No-fail crowd pleaser
I've been making this for years in a slow cooker and it is always a success. Sometimes I use turkey, sometimes beef -- both are delicious. If I have ground cumin on hand I add a teaspoon to the sauce before cooking; it works really well with the other flavors.
