I too used Port as another reviewer did. I doubled the recipe to take to a dinner party. I already had roasted almonds whole ones ... I split them for easier eating. I too like the mix of sweet and tart.
New Holiday FAVORITE
My husband usually cooks the entire Thanksgiving dinner, but when I saw this recipe I just HAD to give it a try. What a HIT! We absolutely loved the fresh, spicy, sweet, hot and tangy flavors. I used port instead of sherry and it was marvelous. We used the leftovers in an omelet and it was the very best vegetable omelet I've ever eaten in my life.
As a matter of fact, Sweet-N-Savory Green Beans are SO delicious, I'm making this recipe again tonight!
