Follow Crosswicks Creek to where it meets the Delaware River and you’ve found Bordentown, New Jersey – a bustling community of 4,000 with a vibrant main street and a colorful history to match.
Settled in 1682, this riverside hamlet is named after Joseph Borden, whose stagecoaches and ferries to New York City literally put his town on the map. Known as a hotbed of patriotism during the Revolutionary War, Bordentown was demolished by the British in 1778 but quickly rose from the ashes to become home to many historic residents including Thomas Paine, Clara Barton and even Napoleon Bonaparte’s older, much nicer, brother, Joseph.
Today, there’s always something going on in “the little city with a lot of heart” where acclaimed restaurants and stores line lively Farnsworth Street. Just a half-mile up the road from the heart of town is Ocean Spray’s Bordentown Facility.
With 500,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space on 60 acres, this beverage plant has produced Ocean Spray’s finest since 1943. Today, with nearly 300 non-union employees – averaging over 11 years of service – this exceptional facility runs six production lines 24 hours a day, seven days a week to produce 32 million cases of world famous Ocean Spray beverages every year.
