First settled in 1661, this sprawling burg is the second largest in Massachusetts – with total area over 72 square miles – yet retains its rural charm with just under 20,000 residents. Widely recognized as the ‘cranberry capital of the world’ for its countless bogs and rich farming history, Middleboro is perhaps best known as the home of Ocean Spray’s world headquarters and our state of the art food processing plant.
With 650,000 square feet of production and storage space on 40 acres, the Middleboro plant is the largest in Ocean Spray’s network and serves as a pilot plant for many new initiatives. Its 195 employees average 6.24 years of service and work four production lines 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each year this exemplary facility - in steady operation since it opened at this location in 1974 produces 32 million pounds of Sweetened Dried Cranberries (SDCs) and 1.4 million gallons of concentrate.
In 2009, the high-achieving Middleboro plant was recognized with Ocean Spray’s Continuous Improvement Award for quality, efficiency, productivity and cost savings.
