Get ready to rock around the clock as it strikes midnight. For a fun twist this New Year's Eve, turn the clock way back and celebrate your favorite decade. Host a 50’s sock hop, a 60’s swanky cocktail party, or try a retro ’70s party. Break out the mood rings, puka shells, and fondue pots and turn up the disco beat. Our Lava Lamp cocktails will set the mood. When you’re stuck indoors in frosty January, it’s a perfect time to push back the furniture, roll up the shag rugs, and boogie. After all, getting down is also a great way to work off some of those extra holiday indulgences.

Junior Lava Lamp

Let the kids jitterbug in their jammies as they ring in the New Year. Move the clock up a few hours so they can count down to "midnight" and raise a toast with these colorful mocktails. Serve up tall glasses of cranberry-flavored ginger ale, lemon-lime soda or other lightly-colored carbonated beverage. Drop in a teaspoon of Craisins® Sweetened Dried Cranberries and a colorful straw. After a moment, the cranberries will start to float up and down the glass. The kids will surely dance along.

Start the Year Off Right… with a Party

Keep the party season going well into the new year. Cocktail parties, ‘70s disco nights or dessert buffets are fun ways to reciprocate for holiday invites and extend that seasonal glow.

  • Bring back the swanky cocktail party. It's an easy way to entertain, and a two-hour party from 5:00 to 7:00 pm fits better into everyone’s schedule. Some good conversation, colorful drinks, and a few snacks are all you need. Try featuring one or two spectacular cocktails in martini or Collins glasses, such as the classic Cosmopolitan, Rubytini, The Brentwood or the White Cosmopolitan.
  • Forgo the hors d'oeuvres and cut straight to dessert. A buffet of sweet treats is an indulgent display. Who doesn’t enjoy deciding which one – or which several – to try a bite of first? For a lavish dessert buffet, plan five options for up to 10-12 guests, then add one option for every four guests after that. Your desserts should include a variety of flavors, colors, and textures, some with chocolate, some without. It’s nice to have some choices without nuts, and a sugar-free choice, too.
