Grapefruit Recipes
We've all heard about the "grapefruit diet",
which is defined by food restrictions. But diets
don't have to be all about sacrifice. A well-balanced
diet should embrace variety and incorporate an
assortment of healthier food items such as grapefruit.
For those tired of those impossible New Year’s
resolutions, setting a goal to add more grapefruit
into the diet can be a delicious and easy way to
treat the body right from the inside-out. Here
are a few of our favorite recipes to get you started:
Grapefruit Harvest
Ocean Spray grapefruit comes primarily from the
Indian River region of Florida, as well as other
select growing areas in the United States. The
grapefruit harvest generally takes place between
October and April, when the fruit meets our stringent
quality standards for the sweetest and juiciest
grapefruit.
Our growers pick grapefruit by hand, which is
in itself an art. Grapefruit growers will tell
you that the fruit's outer skin makes the best
natural packaging and protection from decay, so
extra special care is required to pick and handle
the ripe fruit to ensure that this outer skin is
not damaged.
Grapefruit groves are located within an hour's
drive of our fresh packaging and processing facilities,
to ensure the freshest possible fruit. Ocean Spray
cleans, hand packs and ships fresh grapefruit with
special care. We also "soft-squeeze" grapefruits
for use in our great-tasting grapefruit juices
and juice drinks.
