RESOLVE TO RENEW WITH THE FRESH TASTE OF GRAPEFRUIT

This New Year, step out of the ordinary citrus routine with the tangy fruit alternative

LAKEVILLE-MIDDLEBORO, MA (January 10, 2006) – With the start of the New Year often comes the desire for a new self. Get in shape inside and out while rediscovering the other citrus – the refreshingly healthy grapefruit. Sweet, juicy and fresh, grapefruit invigorates your taste buds while offering all the health benefits one is looking for this New Year. Naturally loaded with the antioxidant vitamin C, grapefruit juice helps boost the immune system during these winter months when colds and flu are at their peak. Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant in pink and red grapefruit juice may help prevent certain types of cancer, heart disease and stroke. For a real health boost, grapefruit also contains potassium which helps the body maintain water balance and prevent muscle cramps.

While the traditional “grapefruit diet” emphasizes food restrictions, diets do not have to be all about sacrifice. A well-balanced diet should embrace variety and incorporate an assortment of healthier food items such as grapefruit. For those tired of those impossible New Year’s resolutions, setting a goal to add more grapefruit into the diet can be a delicious and easy way to treat the body right from the inside-out.

For a change of pace, Ocean Spray offers a variety of grapefruit juices and juice drink options straight from the grove. Ocean Spray Premium 100% Juices White, Pink and Ruby are simple and great-tasting ways to get a full serving of fruit. With no artificial flavors or preservatives, these juices wake-up the taste buds while treating your body to the benefits of vitamin C and potassium.

Grapefruit also puts the FUN back into fruit drinks!  Ocean Spray Ruby™ and Ruby™ Tangerine Grapefruit Juice Drinks offer an easy way to fill up with healthy goodness. Light Ruby Grapefruit Juice Drink serves up an excellent amount of vitamin C and contains potassium, with 2/3 fewer calories, carbs and sugar – all in one refreshing glass to be enjoyed any time of day.

Not only is grapefruit beneficial for a beautiful inside, the tangy fruit can be used in rejuvenating spa treatments at home as well.  Grapefruit can be used in a natural skin care regime and grapefruit essential oil is very popular for massaging. Why not try a gentle homemade facial scrub whipped up from grapefruit juice and some other favorite natural ingredients found at home.
