First Time Host

Congratulations! You're going to host your first big (or small) Thanksgiving feast. The first step is simple, but easier said than done - don't panic!

At Ocean Spray, we're Thanksgiving specialists. After all, cranberries have had a starring role on Thanksgiving Day tables for hundreds of years. So we'll walk you through it step-by-step, show you some great tools for figuring out how much to serve, how to thaw and cook the turkey, and give you some great recipes for side dishes that'll ensure your first big Turkey Day feast will earn you a standing ovation. Provided, of course, that everyone isn't too stuffed to stand up.

And remember the golden rule - the cook never cleans. So be sure to line up some volunteers to wash the dishes and wrap those leftovers. And you can sit back and enjoy the evening because you'll certainly have earned it.

Your first question is probably "How big a bird?"

Click here to access our serving calculator. You'll learn how big your turkey should be, how many appetizers and sides to prepare whether you're serving 4, or 24.

What about the ambiance?

It's all too much!

Freaking out is sometimes an inevitable part of being the host. So, go ahead, get it out of your system. Go outside and do a lap of the house if you have to. Then, check out our tips for stress-free preparation. And remember, it's going to be great.

Lists and Recipes and Products, Oh My!

Sure, there's a lot to do. But it's a piece of cake if you plan correctly. Download a planning calendar here and you'll stay one step ahead.

Bring on the cranberries!

We may be a bit biased, but this is our favorite part of the holidays. We'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you've got cranberry sauce already on your list. But that's just the beginning. Check out our recipes from appetizers to desserts and even how to decorate with cranberries. And remember, when it comes to cranberries, there's no such thing as too much of a good thing.

Enjoy your first Thanksgiving, we're sure when all is said and done, you'll be the one getting the 'thanks.'
