Son's Favorite Jam - Been Making this recipe for a Decade with Slight Modifications

Stacy from Arlington, TX 11/18/2018 at 10:24 PM

This is my son's favorite recipe, and I have been making it for over a decade. The reason I did not rate it 5 starts, is that the way the recipe has you combine the ingredients does not come out well. I have found that you need to cook the cranberries so they soften and start bursting BEFORE you add the sugar. Once the sugar is incorporated and the cranberries are cooked down, I find that I do not need to add the pectin at all. I can this recipe so I have the OceanSpray goodness all year long! This jam goes well on a cheese board with a softer goat cheese.

Cranberry Jam

This is so easy to make and is a great homemade gift. It is a wonderful addition to the homemade breads, biscuits, rolls, and scones giftbags I hand out to friends and relatives during the holiday season. As soon as cranberries become available in stores, i purchase enogh to fill jars for everyone on my homemade gift giving lists. For those who like a little more tartness I add some lemon zest.
