Steps

Preheat oven to 325°F. Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar together in a medium mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Mix in the flour, a little at a time, until combined. Stir in dried cranberries. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Lightly grease the bottom of a drinking glass, then dip in granulated sugar. Gently flatten dough balls with the glass, making 2-inch rounds. Bake 12 to 14 minutes. Cool. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Makes 6 dozen cookies. To make round cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Place ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 15 to 17 minutes. Remove from sheets; cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar.
